It all started with a Swedish fashion magazine in early 2002 when I was 16. I browsed through some runway pages and out of all these sexy, cute, androgynous, beautiful and 'not so beautiful' models, I spotted Jeísa. Of course I didn't know it was her until I saw the Fructis commercial and googled her down! From there I was addicted to Ardian's site that had it all, and came to satisfy my daily dose of Jeísa... Because of my lack of imagination today I will say the same as Sara (hope you don't mind) "my culture defines me" Favorite (at the moment)... Models: Twiggy, Jeísa, Emina Cunmulaj, Kate Moss, Natalia Vodianova, Heather Marks, Cintia Dicker. Music: deftones, cocteau twins, a perfect circle, air, yeah yeah yeah's, system of a down, goldfrapp, m.i.a, el perro del mar. I'm Swedish, live in Stockholm, where I'm a grad student. I have been a fan of Jeisa since 2001 (I think). I started digging fashion photography around that time since I became fascinated with Gia Carangi and vintage fashion photography. Of course, when I realized how fantastic fashion photography can be - and how certain models always shoot amazing photos (I actually find that the best models are more reliable than the best photographers) - I started looking around to see if there were any current models with that same kind of beauty/presence that just pulls you in - and I found Jeisa (at Ardian's great site, obviously). Quel, 20

I'm Quel but you're free to call me Drakulita - a monicker I got from my grandma. I'm a college senior taking up Comparative Literature at the University of the Philippines. (If you don't happen to know, the Philippines is a country in South East Asia.) Yes, that's me (before, during make-up and after!) looking silly during our college yearbook pictorials. I "met" Jeisa by chance during my first summer break from college - sometime around late March and early April of 2003. I was channel surfing and got hooked on FTV. Suddenly, a very short segment on this girl with full bangs was shown because she's one of the April birthday celebrants. I was a minute too late in realizing how much I admired her and in capturing her name in my memory. All I ended up with were two clues: first, her birthday's in April and second, her surname has a 'z' in it. Well, you can also add to that her endearing face and the eye-catching full bangs! After a couple of days or maybe even weeks, I tried googling words like "model", "April" , "birthday" and even "z" but to no avail. After more detailed searches, I ended up at Ardian's wonderful Jeisa site at the now defunct http://jeisachiminazzo.hpg.ig.com.br and felt all too happy and lucky. Not only did I find out her name—Jeisa Chiminazzo—but a very informative and visual site as well—Ardian's! I don't claim to know Jeisa as much as Ardian did or as Sara and Maya do but I really wanted to continue what Ardian stopped because I wanted to have a site where we can see what's up with Jeisa. I still wanted to see how the "the little girl from Brazil" grew up to be the Jeisa we know (or more aptly - see) now. That's why this site was born. With the help of people from the message board who didn't even really know me previously since I never was such a fangirl before (I was the invisible type who'd only save the pictures Ardian posted and never said a thing at the boards), the site became a little more like the one I used to go. I got updates and visuals of all things Jeisa. Now, I can't wait to see more!

Next on the list: Sara...since she's the first one who emailed her profile a couple of months ago! :D

Jeisa 2002 Bio

This comes from Ardian's earlier Jeisa fansite which I recovered through Internet Archive.

Jeísa Chiminazzo was born in the city of Muçum, Rio Grande do Sul, Brazil, on April 12, 1985. Brazil is a multiethnic country, and Jeisa is no exception to the rule. This youthful looking beautiful girl has both Italian and German origins running in the blood, thanks to her father Ernani and her mother Ivone. Jeisa is their second child. She has two sisters, namely Grace (who is six years older) and Jessica (who is five years younger). On May '98, still in the tender age of thirteen, she went into a modelling course on her hometown. Brazilian model/actor Luciano Szafir saw her there and couldn't help but get impressed with Jeisa's natural beauty. Well, I think no one could deny the "innocent child" look in her, not even this famous guy. Luciano quickly called L'Equipe modelling agency, which is based in São Paulo - Brazil's city of fashion, and recommended Jeisa to the agency. It happened so fast. She was just started and she didn't even look for the deal, yet. The contract was searching for her... Jeisa spent the year 1998 busy in the Brazilian fashion scene. She's been a familiar face on fashion events in her homeland, ever since. By the next year this little girl was ready to take the world by storm, as she headed into one of world's most important fashion cities, Milan. Jeisa is presented by Paolo Tomei models here, which is also the home of many great models including another personal favorite of mine, Mariacarla Boscono. She had also spread her wings into other cities, especially New York. IMG agency recruited her on their line up of models in NYC. Late '99, Jeisa took the decision to leave Brazil and move into the USA. She lives in a Manhattan apartment building with her mother, the same place where her best friend, fellow Brazilian rising star Isabeli Fontana used to live. Jeisa did three important campaigns in 2000: Jill Stuart, Philosophy di Alberta Ferretti and Emanuel Ungaro. She could also be seen on some Vogue editorials and other mags as well. Only thing I regret is that there must be more Jeisa on the covers of those magazines. Why people turn around and choose the models who are not as good as Jeisa is beyond my knowledge. As we all knew, Brazilian models ruled the fashion world in 2000. However, the following year wasn't the same for these girls. It seemed that the designers were using less Brazilians this time, due to some negative publicities. Thankfully, Jeisa is one of the chosen few who keeps riding high above the rest. Only the strong survive! Jeisa even made her Paris catwalk debut in 2001. In fact, that was an unexpected success for her, who is also managed by IMG Paris. The French love Jeisa! More recently, Jeisa scored two huge advertisement campaigns for spring-summer 2002: Versus and Intimissimi. Although Versace has a much bigger name than this Italian lingerie line, it should be remembered that Intimissimi is the best campaign she ever did. Bar none. Jeisa is still on the top of the game. I'm pretty damn sure that we'll see more of her in the future, like we did on the (recent) past and present. Every tomorrow is a brighter day for her. We wish you well, Jeisa!
